Solus Lumi — Project Case Study
Project: The Crystal Revival | Hotel Lobby Replacement, Toronto
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Design Partner: [Design Firm Name or “Confidential at Client Request”]
Completed: Q3, 2020
The Brief
The client — a landmark hotel — was undertaking a selective renovation of their main lobby. The existing chandelier light fixture, installed nearly two decades ago, had aged beyond repair. Flickering lamps, tarnished metal, and broken crystal strands had become an eyesore rather than an attraction.
The hotel‘s management sought a replacement fixture that would:
Honor the grandeur of the original while offering modern performance
Fit within the existing ceiling mounting point (minimal structural work)
Be delivered and installed during a tight four-week window
Exceed the original in craftsmanship, light quality, and longevity
Standard chandelier light fixture options from catalogues could not match the scale (1.8 meters in diameter) or the layered, tiered configuration of the original. The project demanded a custom, handcrafted solution — designed, fabricated, and shipped from our atelier to Toronto within twelve weeks.
Our Solution
Solus Lumi collaborated with the hotel‘s facilities team and the appointed lighting designer to create a five-tier crystal chandelier — 1.8 meters in diameter, 2.1 meters in total height, engineered to mount directly to the existing ceiling point.
