The Art of Hand-Hammered Copper

Solus Lumi introduces its signature hand-hammered copper finish — a tactile, organic surface treatment applied to every metal component in the White Garden Collection.

Texture is often overlooked in lighting design. At Solus Lumi, we believe it is essential.

Today, we are sharing a closer look at our signature hand-hammered copper finish — a surface treatment applied to every metal component in The White Garden Collection and available as an option for custom projects.

The process begins with solid copper sheet or rod. Our master metalworkers heat the copper to approximately 800°C, then shape it by hand on an anvil — repeated heating and hammering cycles until the desired form is achieved. The final pass uses custom-textured hammers, creating overlapping dimples that catch light and shadow.

No two hammered surfaces are identical. Each piece carries the unique signature of the maker‘s hand — a record of force, angle, and intention.

“Machine-made finishes are uniform and predictable,” said [Metalwork Lead Name]. “Hand-hammered copper is alive. It changes with the light. It invites touch. It tells a story.”

The hand-hammered copper finish is now available for custom chandelier light fixturependant lightwall light, and table lamp projects.
